Traditional Midwifery
The accomplishment I’m most proud of is raising 4 amazing human beings (all born at home). I also have 2 precious grand babies that I had the privilege of attending as their midwife.
I live in the mountains of Big Sur where I enjoy my family, gardening, long walks with my 2 dogs, perfecting my pie crust and dancing.
As a midwife, it is my intention to help you to be your best self with caring guidance in nutrition, exercise, herbs, stress reduction, informed choice on testing, monitoring of you and your babies health, as well as preparations for the birth of your baby. I will also provide postpartum care for both you and your baby.
I am happy to meet with expecting mothers and families for a free interview.
Meet Iris
I am Iris Johnson and I’ve been involved with home birth for over 25 years. I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) as well as a Licensed Midwife (LM). My education was mostly “traditional “ meaning I had hands on learning at the right hand of a midwife as an apprentice and assistant for many years.
I have attended and graduated from National Midwifery Institute. I am a member of both state and National midwifery organizations , CALM and MANA ,as well as our local chapter of the Birth Network.
